Our Story
GP2Aus was founded by two UK-trained GPs who made the move to Australia and lived every frustration of the process firsthand. We loved general practice — but we wanted more autonomy, a better climate, and a healthcare system that let us spend real time with patients rather than firefighting an overwhelmed NHS.
When we started researching the move, we quickly discovered that the information we needed was scattered across dozens of websites, buried in outdated forum threads, or locked behind recruitment agency gatekeepers. Government bodies, medical colleges, and immigration authorities each held a piece of the puzzle — but nobody brought it all together in one place.
We spent months piecing together registration pathways, visa requirements, cost estimates, and relocation logistics. We made mistakes, overpaid for services we did not need, and missed deadlines we did not know existed. After we finally arrived and settled into practice, we kept hearing the same struggles from the next wave of GPs considering the move.
That is when we decided to build GP2Aus: the comprehensive, independent platform we wished had existed when we were planning our own relocation. A single destination where international GPs can find everything they need to navigate the journey with confidence — from their first thought about relocating through to their first day in an Australian practice.
